The Bayerischer Jagdverband e.V. (BJV) has decided to join as a co-signatory of the joint statement on captive bred lion shooting originally published by the CIC and Dallas Safari Club (DSC) in November, 2020.
In doing so, they are showing their support for the statement’s messages on this practice, namely the damage it causes to the reputation of hunters, and sustainable hunting, around the world.
“I am delighted to have BJV join as the latest co-signatory of the joint statement. This follows recent announcements by the South African Government that they will put an end to the practice of captive bred lion shooting within their borders. Such announcements reinforce the importance of our joint statement. As hunting and conservation organisations, we must remain aligned, and continue to advocate for responsible conservation through sustainable use.” – George Aman, President of the CIC.
Since the joint statement’s initial release, an additional nine organisations have joined in condemning captive bred lion shooting.
