Those opposed to the practice of international hunting often argue that it is a neo-colonial imposition by foreign hunters. The reality is that hunters can add value to necessary conservation work that will have to occur, regardless of the presence of hunters from abroad.

In fact, looking to dictate how nations and people manage their wildlife, such as through the introduction of hunting trophy import bans, can be seen as a form of neo-colonialism.
