„Hunting Literature is part of our Cultural Heritage“

The President of the International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation (CIC) announced the CIC Literary Awards on 21 May, which UNESCO has proclaimed as World Day for Cultural Diversity. Four different books on hunting have been selected during the recent General Assembly of the CIC at Capetown.
“Hunting is not only as old as mankind” said President Lozé “but it is also a cultural heritage and literature reflects the diversity of hunting traditions in different parts of the world.”

Bernard Lozé congratulated the award winners for their achievements.

The Technical Prize went to the two-volume book on ungulate management. The three editors are world-renowned experts Reidar Andersen (Norway), Marco Apollonio (Italy) and Rory Putman (United Kingdom). Volume 1 is entitled “European Ungulates and their Management in the 21st Century”, whereas Volume 2 bears the title “Ungulate Management in Europe”.

Peter Flack, South Africa, received the Environment Prize for his book and video “The South African Conservation Success Story”.

The Artistic Prize went to Markus Zeiler, Austria, for his photographic book on hunting dogs “Ferm”.
