The Markhor Award is awarded to conservation projects, of multinational relevance, that link the conservation of biodiversity and human livelihoods through the application of sustainable use principles. This award is presented and announced at the Conference of Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), which takes place once every two years, helping to highlight sustainable use as the second pillar of the Convention.
