Focuses on the management and the restoration of often depleted populations of feathered and furred small game throughout the world; examples being species of partridge, quail, grouse, pheasant, francolin, bustard, and brown hare.
Attention is also given to increasing populations of small predators affecting small game population (cross-over with Big Game for example in respect of trophic cascades). This sector also has cross-over areas with Crop and Livestock Production Systems and Wildlife in respect of the intensification and industrialisation of agricultural production methods, impact of agrichemicals on small game populations, the shifting of industrial production towards plants for bio-fuels and the clearing of pristine habitats for agriculture.
Addresses knowledge gaps between ecology theory, hunters’ perceptions and management applications.
