“DIANA-Airguns” Support CIC’s Anti Poaching Project in Tanzania
9 March 2016

On the occasion of the 125th anniversary of Diana Airguns, the company produced the most exclusive air rifle of its history in Germany. This lavishly engraved model,”the one and only“, was auctioned for 10,000 euros. The entire amount was donated to assist the rangers in Africa’s largest natural reserve, the Selous Game Reserve in Tanzania, which is particularly affected by poaching. Due to wildlife crime, the elephant population in this region has fallen from 70,000 to 15,000 in recent years. The donation will be used for training game wardens to become drivers and car-mechanics.

Wiebke Utsch from Blaser and Diana Airgun’s CEO, Michael Swoboda, handed over the check to Dr. Rolf D. Baldus who represented the International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation (CIC). On behalf of the the German government,  Dr. Rolf Baldus worked in the Selous Game Reserve in Tanzania for 13 years.

Since the CIC’s Global Summit  “Hunters United Against Wildlife Crime”,  introduced at the General Assembly in Milan in 2014,  the organization has supported anti-poaching activities in the Selous Game Reserve together with the Tanzanian Wildlife Authority.

The CIC is proud to support Tanzania, a state member of the CIC.
