Obituary to a long-term Swiss member
11 November 2020

It is our sad duty to inform you that Louis G. Schnyder von Wartensee, a passionate hunter and the former Head of the Swiss Delegation of the CIC, passed away on 6th November 2020, at the age of 90.

As a faithful and long-standing member of the CIC for over 40 years, he participated in all General Assemblies, accompanied by his lovely wife Monika Schnyder von Wartensee.

He supported the work of the organisation in several ways and means throughout his time as a CIC member. As Head of the Swiss Delegation from 2003-2010, he was instrumental in strengthening the role of the Swiss Delegation as a backbone of the international work of the CIC.

His vision for the CIC was an organisation with an authoritative voice on all matters relating to hunting and wildlife conservation, as well as an international advisor and a source of inspiration known for its credibility.

The CIC team knew him as a modest, friendly man, who always encouraged staff with words of appreciation for their work.

We would like to express our heartfelt condolences to the family of Louis G. Schnyder von Wartensee, and hope that they will continue to play a part in the active work of the CIC in conserving wildlife around the world.

He gave an interview in 2013 for the CIC Magazine, which you can read here.
