Conservation Organisations Welcome The Economist’s Article on International Hunting

The International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation (CIC) and a number of other conservation organisations have published an open letter to The Economist, showing appreciation for their recent article on international hunting which was entitled “How trophy-hunting helps protect Africa’s wildlife.

The letter highlights how the article, and accompanying video, does an excellent job of critically addressing some of the complexities of hunting, which was done by objectively presenting the facts. Perhaps most importantly, The Economist does well to recognise the benefits associated with international hunting, particularly those generated for wildlife conservation and human livelihoods.

The CIC, together with the European Federation for Hunting and Conservation (FACE), Safari Club International (SCI), Conservation Force (CF) and Dallas Safari Club (DSC), and undoubtedly many other individuals and organisations around the world, welcome this unbiased, factual media coverage of what is often a very mis-represented and misunderstood topic.
